The small island is called Lovers Isle. Batu Ferringhi, Penang.

To be back there now... it was quite stunning seeing the sunset. Its strange to think that the inhabitants see this day in / day out and it's nothing special to them!

HDR panoramic. 16 image stitch in 2 rows. 3 exp per photo.

I quite like your use of HDR here, it's nice and subtle. Especially the sky and horizon come off realllly nicely. Two little critiques though, if I may.. I think the composition looks a bit weak, because towards the left the image gets so bright again... Maybe if you darkened the sky or even did a subtle vignette on the whole image, it would appear more...hm, contained? And secondly I feel like it sort of lacks a motif, a clear focal point...if your intention was to capture that beautiful sky, then I think another photo to the right and instead cropping away the left would have been better....but anyhow, hope you don't mind these criticisms. Overall I still find it quite appealing

I dont mind at all, thanks for your opinion. I dont know if you saw thsi version [link] . it was taken closer to the boat to give it a bit more depth and foregraound interest. Thanks very much

Oha, no, I didn't see that one, thanks for showing me! I have to say though, that I sort of feel like it has the same problem, the lack of a clear focal point. My eyes are being led very nicely by the shore, the boat, the contrast of tree and sky...but there is nothing that these are pointing to, you know what I mean? It's something that I noticed a lot in my own work lately...that I paint an image about, say, a ship...but then the ship is so far off to the side or too small to really carry the importance that I meant it to have. Gah, I am not sure if it makes sense the way I explain it :D
